Our Focus

Leveraging the SECURe (Strengthening  & Enhancing Contextual Urban resilience) Framework and aligned with AMRUT 2.0 guidelines, the National Water Mission (under the National Action Plan on Climate Change, 2008), and the Advisory on Conservation and Restoration of Water Bodies in Urban Areas, 2013, the initiative focuses on building the capacities of communities particularly women's Self-Help Groups (SHGs) as climate champions for sustainable water governance and ecosystem restoration.

Key features of the project include:

The project adopts a multi-stakeholder model, engaging a wide range of actors including marginalised communities from informal settlements, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), community groups, elected representatives (Councillors), officials from the Ajmer and Jodhpur Municipal Corporations, PHED, Water Resource Department, Tourism, Forest Department, academia, CSR partners and civil society organisations (CSOs).

By integrating local knowledge, gender inclusion, and climate resilience strategies, the project aims to foster inclusive water governance, promote equity and climate justice, and contribute to sustainable urban transformation. This initiative is supported by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED).
