Objectives

The objective of the planning exercise was to develop a 15 to 20 year vision of the town by involving all stakeholders. The vision to be further elaborated in to a plan document premise on the principles of Participation, sustainability and equitability.

Capacities of municipal officials and elected representatives enhanced to understand and appreciate the intricacies involved in town planning because they play critical role in its implementation.
Eliciting massive participation of stakeholders such as government officials, businessmen, trade unions, etc, in data collection, interpretation, analysis and future planning of the town (with added emphasis on the participation of women, marginalized and poor)
Preparation of plan document including maps, diagrams and charts elaborating the existing situation and future requirements
