Objectives

To provide secretarial support in the formation of a joint forum of SFCs to help them make recommendations for more realistic and need based SFC reports and recommendations.

Geographical spread

Task force comprising chairpersons of SFCs from 7 states: Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttaranchal and Uttar Pradesh.

Key areas/components

Facilitated understanding of institutional capacities of State Finance Commisions
Quality of the SFC reports: (i) What are the gaps in reporting; (ii) Model steps to be followed by each SFC in consultation with different stakeholders; (iii) Level of content, depth and analysis of the existing financial situation to be included in the report; (iv) Time frame of the report; (v) Action Taken Report by the state government

Key outputs

Continuous interaction and exchange of information with members of the Task Force on SFC from the national level. PRIA facilitated exchange of information between different SFC members.
