Environmental Governance

Objectives

The project aimed to promote and synergise the concepts of people’s participation and environmental governance to foster environmental sustainability in the proposed intervention areas.

Geographical spread

Jharkhand (East Singbhum district) and Chhattisgarh (Raigarh and Korba districts) as they are intensely affected by industrial growth and environmental degradation due to the availability of rich mineral resources in the area.

Key areas/components

Preparation of status reports, collection of data, conducting meetings with stakeholders

Key outputs

• Three reports highlighting the relevance of citizen participation and governance at three levels (international, national, state).
• Research reports on environmental governance titled, ‘Environmental Governance: Where are the People? ’, one each for Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh .
• Research study on environmental aspects within Raipur CDP
• Consultation in Raipur and multi-stakeholder dialogue in Jharkhand
