Capacity Building of Elected Representatives (ERs) and Civil Servants on Right to Information

Objectives

To develop an understanding of the provisions of Right to Information among elected representatives and civil servants so that they can change their attitude from ‘reluctant to share information about governance’ to ‘voluntary giver of information’.

The project covered 10 states in India

Key areas/components

• District level workshops for elected representatives and civil servants on RTI
• Focus group discussions with elected representatives at the village level and block level
• Public hearings at the district headquarters on implementation status of RTI

Key outputs

The engagement with these constituencies helped citizens in accessing information from public institutions.
