Youth-n-Democracy Campaign in Uttarakhand

Charting some new and unexplored territories, Youth n Democracy campaign launches its second leg in Uttarakhand.

This time we are visiting to the lesser known Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. In collaboration with HNB Garhwal University (HNBGU), the largest Central University in the Garhwal region, the YnD team will visit the university’s main campus in Srinagar, Uttarakhand on 18 April 2018. A sneak peek into the history of the establishment of this Central University reveals the struggles, aspirations and hopes of the people of the Garhwal region who demanded the development of their region through the instrument of higher education. The struggle was not just for development in its economic sense but for also the autonomy of the locals over its own cultural and natural resources.

The YnD campaign will hear the voices of the youth from different departments of the university. The conversation will be hosted The Department of Sociology and Social Work.
