Dr Sonajharia Minz, Vice-Chancellor of Sido Kanhu Murmu University in Dumka, visited PRIA on 8 December 2021. A Professor in Computer Science at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), she is the first Santhali person to become Vice-Chancellor of Sido Kanhu Murmu University. She was appointed to this position in July 2020.

Dr Minz has participated with Dr Budd Hall, UNESCO Co-Chair & Lorna Williams in indigenous knowledge circle deliberations on open science.

We learnt so much from her life stories and experiences, her focus on improving the learning environment of marginalised students, and the challenging 18 months at the university as VC.

She was presented with the UNESCO Chair's most recent publication on the Knowledge for Change (K4C) consortium.

We discovered many synergies in her vision for Sido Kanhu Murmu University and the work PRIA is trying to do in building knowledge democracies. Future collaborations to follow!
