KBC youth leaders from Namunda and Titana villages came together for Mitha Pani Divas (‘Sweet Water Day’) with the community in Titana village. Their main objective was to initiate discussions between the youth and community on violence against women, while drinking sweet water together.

The whole event was conceived by the youth, who took ownership -- from arranging resources to inviting chief guests -- of the event. Sarpanch Jasbeer Chhokar and officials from District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) were invited as chief guests.

The event began with the youth leaders briefing the gathered guests about KBC and its objectives. A cultural program followed, with rap and folk songs -- all to raise awareness on issues of child marriage, female foeticide and other forms of violence against women.

The youth leaders were appreciated by the sarpanch for their work to end violence against women and girls in their communities. The youth distributed glasses of sweet water, prepared by them, to the gathered crowd.

The event concluded with a signature campaign on a special banner and pledges by everyone, including the sarpanch, to make Titana village violence free.

Interns from University of Victoria and Jawaharlal Nehru University also participated in the event.
