The consultation started off on a successful note with Mr Deepak Dey from UNICEF introducing the project and the need for a manual as a guide book for elected representatives in panchayati raj institutions. He explicated on how there was knowledge and experiential expertise from all over the country, but at the same time there is a serious need for these practices and guidelines to be consolidated and made available to elected representatives as well as panchayats as an institution.
The various stakeholders in the consultation included representatives from UNICEF, CESS, SERP, and NGO partners working in the field of child rights and panchayats.
