An event to mark International Women’s Day was organised by PRIA and Martha Farrell Foundation in collaboration with Manipal University. It was attended in large numbers by university students and faculty members.
Professor David Brown, who specialises in public policy, was among the chief guests who began the discussion with the culture of “victim blaming and victim shaming”. Mervin and Marlene Farrell, members of late Dr. Martha Farrell’s family, were also present. Assistant Commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Dr. V. Gauri, and Vice President of Manipal University, Dr Kumkum Garg, were among other guests.
The discussion was followed by a small play themed around the everyday discrimination women face due to gender.
