If COVID-19 has shown us anything, it’s that global crises  require global cooperation and scientific solutions need to serve humanity. But paywalls and ‘Ivory Towers’ can impede the benefits of science and scientific research from reaching the people.

Unveiled on 17th November, 2020, UNESCO’s Open Science Declaration pushes for “science for society” and “science with society” through open scientific research, open access and open communication that make science serve humanity, and move us towards the decolonization of knowledge

On 17th November, PRIA, in collaboration with the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, the UNESCO Chair in Community Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education and the UNESCO Delhi Cluster Officer, brought together scientists and social actors to facilitate citizens' feedback from the South Asia region to the Open Science Declaration.
