An open forum discussion on prevention of sexual harassment at the workplace was held in Bhopal on 23 November 2015 evening. The discussion was organised by PRIA in collaboration with the Martha Farrell Foundation (www.marthafarrellfoundation.org). More than 30 participants from the development sector, government departments and private sector attended.

The focus of the open forum was to initiate dialogue on the issue. During the ensuing discussions it was established that sexual harassment is a grave issue that needs to be addressed urgently. The group recognised that sexual harassment is rampant in workplaces and that there is lack of commitment on part of organisations to prevent it. They impressed the need for putting in place a comprehensive training programme for Internal Complaints Committee members in order to prepare them for their roles in preventing and redressing sexual harassment at the workplace.
