PRIA facilitated a five day training (from 23 to 27 November 2015) on participatory research, conflict and dialogue for partners of Conciliation Resources (CR), which is based out of London. This training is part of a course offering in blended mode to partners of CR who work with people in conflict to prevent violence and build peace. CR works in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Caucasus regions. In India, they work in the state of Jammu and Kashmir with different groups on conflict and peacebuilding initiatives.

A total of 14 participants, three women and 11 men, attended the workshop which was held at PRIA  head office in New Delhi. This face to face learning programme was administered to help those pursing an online course on participatory research offered by PRIA International Academy to better understand concepts. It also provided them a space to clarify doubts they had in relation to application of the course content in their respective field areas.

The programme helped build understanding on concepts of dialogue; and gender, peace and conflict in addition to principles and methods of participatory research. The design was customized in discussion with CR to suit the learning needs of the participants, though some participants did feel, as learners, they could have been consulted when designing the programme.

In the last session, participants were asked to develop and present future plans. After five days of rigorous learning, the participants felt encouraged and capacitated to relate the use of participatory research methods and tools to their work in the field.
