Ms. Claire Fisher, hailing from Australia had undergone an internship with PRIA. She gave an interesting presentation on 10 May 2018 Thursday regarding her experience of internship of two months in PRIA.

She started with the objectives of her internship such as experience about an intersectional feminist approach, interaction with local communities in an ethical manner and learn and participate in participatory methodologies etc.

Further she described her learning that she gained about participatory research in relation to gender, transect walks and safety mapping for domestic workers, usage of Participatory Research skills and applied to the context of learning about construction workers.

She had also analyzed and shared the situation of women construction workers in India and Australia, their experiences and how they address their problems.

Ms. Fisher shared that she had interviewed the women construction workers during her field visit and found that there is no toilet facilities at work for them, the children are brought to work, women earn around 300 rupees per day, male counterparts earn around 600 rupees etc. Lastly Ms. Fisher gave the comparison between Indian and Australian construction sites, skilled labour versus unskilled labour, strong health and safety regulations versus absent, sexual harassment redressal, choosing to leave the workforce early versus difficulty moving out of the workforce.
