To celebrate International Women’s Day, PRIA-Hyderabad in collaboration with Confederation Of Voluntary Associations (COVA) and Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) planned a series of activities with community members and students on various themes related to gender equality.

The first event in the series was held with the residents of Krishna Reddy Nagar in Hyderabad on 8 March 2016. Community youth were oriented on gender equality. The session began with an informal introduction and context setting of women's day, followed by a focused group discussion on 'various forms of violence against women'. The participants during the discussion stressed that boys need to learn about gender and be sensitized towards women.

The session culminated with a rapid training on preparing and performing a theme related to gender equality in the form of a skit. Themes included: 'Who is a Woman?' and 'Perceiving Sexual Harassment'. The youth will perform their prepared skits on 11 March 2016 for their own communities.
