The UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education organised a DECODE webinar titled “Penuak: Keepers of Tradition and Sustainability” on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025.
The webinar spotlighted the Malaysia case study titled “Penuak: Keepers of Tradition and Sustainability", where community leaders and researchers came together to share powerful reflections on how local knowledge holders and external scholars can collaborate to confront the climate crisis through decolonized, locally grounded, and transformative approaches.
The DECODE project is funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and coordinated by the UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education. It builds on the Knowledge Democracy studies originated by Co-Chairs Dr. Rajesh Tandon and Prof. Budd Hall.
