Consultation on Capacity Gap Analysis and Capacity Enhancement of Elected Women Representatives in Jharkhand

A consultation programme was organized by Gender Cell of State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Ranchi on 7 June 2017 at SIRD. The purpose of the consultation was to finalise the training module (with focus on pedagogy) developed by PRIA with support of UNICEF (Jharkhand). Between October 2016 and March 2017, PRIA had conducted a Capacity Gap Analysis and developed a training module for building capacities of elected representatives in Jharkhand. The module was used and tested in a three day training programme at Ranchi in March 2017.

The consultation programme was organised under the guidance of Mridula Sinha (Director General – SIRD, Ranchi). Dr. Satbir Silas Bedi, Member Secretary,National Commission for Women (NCW), Government of India was present, along with representatives from Panchayati Raj & Rural Development Department, Government of Jharkhand; faculty members of SIRD and other training institutions; and civil society organizations (CSOs).

PRIA made a presentation of the key findings of the Capacity Gap Analysis and the pedagogy related to the training programme. This was useful in getting feedback from the participants, as users of the training module.
