Inclusive urban development brings citizens to the table by recognizing their resilience and capacity to innovate and strengthen their services and communities. When citizens come forward to engage and participate in planning and monitoring of services, the results are sustainable. PRIA has been facilitating various forums and platforms for citizens to participate in planning and monitoring of sanitation services in a city.  Citizens need to engage actively with various authorities and planning processes to achieve the goal of participatory sanitation. The citizen forum in Ajmer was organised with the intention to generate participation in sanitation planning, monitoring ongoing interventions and most importantly, initiate members’ actions in their own capacity as far as possible.

A citizen forum is a citizen-led organization at the city level to initiate action, encourage other citizens/ establishments/ groups to engage and give continuous feedback, and will involve monitoring of services on a regular basis.  The citizen forum aims to bring together all stakeholders from the city to discuss and get activated for the inclusive sanitation services in the city.

With the above objectives, PRIA Ajmer facilitated the first meeting of a citizen forum in Ajmer on December 20, 2018 at Hotel Royal Melange Conference Hall, opposite Power House Jaipur Road, Ajmer.
