The winners of the annual scholarships jointly instituted by the Martha Farrell Foundation (MFF) and the National Association of Professional Social Workers in India (NAPSWI) were announced at a function today at the ongoing 4th Annual Social Work Congress organized by NAPSWI at the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

The MFF-NAPSWI scholarships were awarded to Bristi Borgohain and Simanta Mazumdar, pursuing Masters in Social Sciences from Assam and Mumbai, respectively.

 
   

They were felicitated by Prof. Prabhash Nag (Vice Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi) and distinguished chief guest, Ms. Rashmi Singh (civil servant from Union Territory Civil Services 1989 batch, currently Secretary of Social Welfare/Industries of Andaman and Nicobar Administration).

Prof. Sanjai Bhat, Professor at Delhi School of Social Work, Delhi University, and President of NAPSWI, highlighted the importance of the Scholarship instituted by NAPSWI and Martha Farrell Foundation, and shared about the contribution of Dr. Martha Farrell to the cause of gender equality and women’s empowerment. He motivated the students to apply for the scholarship next year. The audience included faculty, research scholars and students from social work institutes, and dignitaries from the development sector.

A special mention was made about the work done by the 2015 MFF-NAPSWI scholars, Akhila Betsy George and Navprabhat Singh, with an open invitation to media and professionals to attend the sharing of their studies at tomorrow's Students Forum.
