Democratic Governance projects

Governance is meaningful when public resources are mobilized and public decision making is promoted towards advancement of common public good. People's participation in the development of projects and allocation of resources has been the hallmark of PRIA's work in promoting democratic decentralisation in both rural and urban areas. PRIA's governance projects have been in the areas of participatory town planning, district planning, activity mapping, social inclusion and social audit.

Facilitating actors and actions in both the supply and demand side to build better cities and regions has been the root of PRIA's work in participatory urban and district planning and activity mapping. Projects range from preparing participatory physical plans (City Development Plans, Master Plans, Slum Development Plans), capacity building of elected representatives in local government, facilitating social accountability in urban governance.
