Social Development Monitoring (SDM) is a process of inclusion of citizens in checking, observing, collecting information on development plans, policies and programmes, taking actions on the gaps that might exist for achieving the desired results/outcomes by holding the higher authorities of state, bilateral and multilateral agencies accountable with the purpose of promoting effective and robust governance.

Geographical Spread:
PRIA initiated this innovative project in Uttaranchal (now Uttarakhand), Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand (in India) and Anuradhapuram (in Sri Lanka).

Engaging community members, panchayat/local leaders and other stakeholders in the identification of problem/concern

Shared the analysis with appropriate governance institutions in interface meetings and prepared joint action plans to improve the situation
