Shifting focus towards development of the much neglected small and medium sized towns in India under UIDSSMT and building capacities of the smaller municipalities
Demonstrate an alternative to the existing CDPs prepared under the JNNURM
Geographical Spread:
Dumka, Jharkhand
Key areas/components:
City wide Reconnaissance surveys and ward wise surveys to collect data to assess the status of physical and social infrastructure in the town.
Intensive stakeholder consultations especially involving the poor, women and other marginalized groups.
Innovative strategies to engage people in the process such as essay and art competitions for youth and children; visioning exercise for the elected representatives; ward snapshots for ward level citizens etc.
Preparing maps for the city and wards.
Key outputs:
Main areas covered in the CDP were water supply; solid waste management and sanitation; basic services for urban poor; transportation; primary and maternal health; education; heritage management; urban environment and capacity building of municipality and Elected Representatives. Sharing of plan at city level for final approval of the people. Some of the key outputs included:
