The first Training of Trainers workshop on ‘Community Organising of the Urban Poor’ was conducted from 12–14 July 2017 at the PRIA Head Office in New Delhi. The second workshop will be held from 17-19 July 2017.
The workshop, a part of our EU-supported Engaged Citizens-Responsive City project, will bring together animators and field staff from the three project locations (Ajmer, Jhansi and Muzaffarpur) and focus on the following areas:
- Developing an understanding about communities and community organisation
- Enhancing facilitation skills on community organising with emphasis on citizen leadership and dynamics in community organisations
- Developing an appreciation of gender dynamics and making workplaces safe
Rashmi Ranjan from Muzaffarpur wrote "The Daily News Bulletin" sharing her experience of the first day. What is a community? What is a community organisation? What are the principles and ways of organising communities? All this and more, was the subject of her first bulletin.
