Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA) completed its remarkable and impactful 41-year journey on February 6, 2023.
Established in 1982, PRIA has been a global center for participatory research and training. Since its inception, it has been PRIA's aim to build the capacities of citizens, communities, and institutions to enable vibrant, gender-equal societies. The organisation works with more than 3,000 NGOs to deliver its programs.
We believe that true democracy can only be achieved when every individual is empowered with knowledge, inclusive development, and equitable access to resources. Our work supports the realisation of such possibilities for all Indians, especially the poor and marginalised.
The Martha Farrell Foundation, set up in 2016 to carry forward the legacy and work of Dr. Martha Farrell, Director at PRIA, has been working on learning to facilitate change with the objective of preventing gender-based violence and sexual harassment at the workplace. The Foundation also celebrated its 7th anniversary on 4th February 2023.
As part of the anniversary celebrations for PRIA, we invited close partners, colleagues, and friends to join us for a conversation in which they shared their personal experiences learning and changing using creative methods, such as community radio, theatre, etc., for collective learning. During this conversation, two intriguing questions were discussed -
