Women’s day Celebration

Venue: Jain Dharamshala, Rao Bahadur ka Talab, Narnaul
Women Day celebrated by PRIA-Haryana at Mahendergarh dated 7 March, 2008. The main objective of the celebration to provide a platform to share their experiences which were initiated in the field of Girl Child education, RTI, NREGS implementation, basic services in Urban areas, Adverse Sex Ratio and promoting the participation of women in governance particularly in LSGs. Secondly, this sharing will mobilise and sensitise to other women to engage them self in initiatives to improve the status of women in Haryana’s society.
 
About 300 women from ERs of PRIs, SMS, SHGs, CLs, CSO, students, Mahiala Mandal, Nari-Network, academia and Government.
 
Various activities were held to celebrate International Women Day
 
Delegates from Government
 
1. Ms. Mana Shriniwas, IAS was the chief guest in the progarmme. Ms. Mana said education is the main instrument which can enhance the status of women, and it is the basic right of every one.
2. CDPO, ICDS was shared departmental schemes which are running by Haryana and Central Government.
3. Ms. Sona Yadav and Ms. Rajinder Kaur from Government Girl Collage, Narnual were shared their experiences as women, and how its status would improve in society.
 
Cultural activities
 
Various culture programmes were performed by women and enjoyed.
1.Play on promotion of Girl Child education by women from JHALHEDI Gram Panchayat, Mahendergarh
2. Kavali on illiteracy by Girl from NAGALIYA, Gram Panchayat
3. Play on women’s empowerment by Girl student from Girl Collage, Narnual
4. Play on Adverse Sex Ratio by Girl from NAGALIYA, Gram Panchayat

 
Experiences sharing
 
1. Bina Devi, Sarpanch, GP Gahli on RTI use as weapon against corruption and NREGS implantation as Head of GP.
2.Ms. Shumitra Devi, Citizen Leader experiences and outcomes for promotion of Girl Child education with PRIs.
3. Kumari Raman imprecation Adverse Sex Ratio and how it could be stoped by women itself.
4. Mr. Hnuman, CSO and Village education Committee & Vigilance and Monitoring committee member experiences in the promotion of Girl Child education and implantation of NREGS through maximum utilization of women as resources.
