The Institute for Gender Justice jointly with the National Legal Services Authority, Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India celebrated International Women's Day on 8 March, 2007. Hon'ble Justice K. G. Balakrishnan, the Chief Justice of India, awarded a Social Justice Medal to Dr. Rajesh Tandon, President of  PRIA, for his remarkable contribution towards empowering citizens, communities and government bodies, both in India and abroad, through providing  voluntary support, sharing expertise on  rights and reforms related to social justice, and developing social action as a core subject within the gender justice realm.
